Feral report

Okay, Meowm talked with NMHP yesterday and it is up to Meowm to catch this baby. She is going to go get a humane trap today. Along with the trap she is getting some doortags and some "winter homes" that NMHP have made. These winter homes sound cozier than the boxes Meowm has made. They are made with styrofoam coolers! That has got to be warmer than a cardboard box. Anyway, once Meowm gets the trap, she has to get the baby used to going in to it. So she will set the food up in the trap for a few days, with the trap door secured open. Once the baby is used to going in there for food, then she has to set the door to close. Once the baby is trapped she must get him/her indoors, out of the cold and get the baby to the vet the next day. If that wasn't tricky enough, the vet Meowm will be taking this baby to only does work with ferals M-F. Meowm will have to spend a work night getting up every so often checking on the trap to see if it has sprung. Also Meowm is supposed to make an appointment with the vet for seeing the feral baby......Meowm isn't to happy about this part cause she has no idea when she can actually catch the baby.....but she will try. I can tell Meowm is nervous about all this, but the baby just doesn't sound good and really needs help. Meowm is afraid that if the baby is to sick to be neutered or spayed that the baby may be PTS, this makes her kinda sad. But she has to remind herself that if the baby is that sick it may be better off crossing the bridge than fending for itself in the cold and possibly ending up pregnant or getting another cat pregnant.

I will keep you updated on how things are going. I watch the baby through the window and I talk to it sometimes. I hope it can hear me cause I am being nice. I am not growling or hissing at it.

Kittens aren't too bright, so I think it will go in the trap easily enough, especially if it's kind of use to humans. It probably has respitory infection and will be okay once it gets medicines.

Ah, the feral baby is so cute. Your mom is very nice to help the kitty. I feel sad that there are so many cats who do not have safe homes.

Purrs to your Momma. She is doing a good thing, even if things don't turn out the way we might like.

It is very nice of your mom to help this little feral kitty out. It's too bad she has to try to trap the kitten herself, but it is wonderful that she is helping out. Even if the little feral has to be PTS, at least it won't be suffering. Hugs and purrs to your mom. I will purr and pray for the little feral.
