There's Nothing I Can Do To Help Them
Donate
Even one dollar can help. One dollar every now and then can help make a difference in an animals life. Skip that ice cream cone, skip that coke, skip something and donate a dollar.
Need to clean some stuff out of your house? Gather it all up and hold a yard sale. Donate the proceeds to a rescue or shelter, or one you may see online needing some help.
Check with local shelters and rescues, see if they have annual yard sales, donate your stuff to them.
Hang onto the items and donate them to the CB when they have auctions for members of the CB.
Save your change and donate it at the end of they year. Don't want to donate all that change? Donate the pennies only, or the nickels only. Everything helps!
Donate old towels, blankets, gently used toys to rescues and shelters. They can always use them.
Make a monthly, bi-monthly, every 6 month, or annual donation of food/litter to a local rescue or shelter.
Check wish lists that rescues and shelters have and see if you can donate something from that list.
Volunteer
Volunteer your time to a local shelter or rescue. Go walk the dogs or play with the cats.
Petsmart and Petco both have animals up for adoption. Volunteer to go in and clean cages, play with the animals up for adoption.
Click on daily websites:
freekibble.com
freekibblekat.com
The Animal Rescue Site
These websites donate food for every click. Make use of it.
Is there an animal food drive going on somewhere in your area? Volunteer to help out.
Maintain or help maintain a feral colony. This means help with TNR and feed the colonies on a regular basis. Get to know the cats of the colony, watch for any that need medical attention, or any newcomers that may have babies or need spayed/neutered.
Build shelters for the ferals to use. Either use them for your own colony or talk to a rescue that sells them to the public and help build them for that reason.
You know those walks people do for cancer, diabetes, heart disease and other illnesses? They do walks for animals too. Sign up for one. Get people to sponsor you, just like you do for the human walks.
Want to help out wild animals? Volunteer to clean up a stretch of highway. The less trash they have to pick thru along the highways and streets, the less likely they are to be clipped by traffic or killed by traffic. This helps birds as well because with no trash, no rodents are going thru it, so they have no reason to go near these places. I just visited the local aviary here and we have 2 Golden Eagles and a Bald Eagle who have injured wings because of this happening.
Hang bird feeders, especially in the Winter.
These are just a few things that Meowm though of off hte top of her head and from a simple search on the internet.
WE CAN ALL DO SOMETHING TO HELP. It may not be a big thing, but little things help as well. You just have to want to help, rather than sit back and let others do the job.
Have any suggestions that I missed? Feel free to share them in the comments.

These are great ideas! I especially like the suggestion to clean up roadside trash; Scott did all along our street one year and he got 17 HUGE bags of trash--imagine all the plastic, etc. animals could have eaten.
I put 10 dollars every month in a folder to donate all at once at the end of the year, and we donate all our old towels and blankets to the local shelter.
Spay and neuter people who abuse, neglect and abandon animals...and politicians. Sorry, I couldn't resist. That is a darn good list!
Bravo Meowm!
Furry pawesome post!

This is a great list and a great idea.
I am at the beginning of a big move and since I couldn't get rid of stuff like I wanted, I'm taking it with me and will sell it to help those that can't help themselves. We'll use the items on CB Auctions and I will sell on Ebay and turn the $$$ over to those who need it.
There is always something you can do and you have shown us how.
Excellent post.

Pee Ess: We second Brian's idea.
You are SO right! There ALWAYS is something, no matter how broke or busy you might think you are.
I agree! Just because we can't help ALL worthy causes doesn't mean we shouldn't help ANY.
What Daisy said. However, I do think everyone with a heart to help does what they can do, assuming they want to at all.
As I've always said, we always find the time and money to do what we truly WANT to do... be it something as simple as painting a wall or as big as building a house.
Awesome post, my friend!
GREAT post!!!! Mom gets tired of hearing people complain about things - her theory is put up or shut up. Or, as she says, you can't do EVERYTHING, but you can do SOMETHING! Even if it is buy soap or papertowels or something for your local rescue. :)
that is a furry excellent post; we wishes it could be onna front page of efurry noospaper inna werld.

peeyes: fanks fur stoppin' by our bloggie wif concatulations. we is plum' proud!
We try to help too. But we're curious how those click for food ads work. Do they really deliver? Do you know how many clicks they need? We sometimes wonder if we're clicking for nothing as we can't see results and don't know who to ask.
Great post! I'm with Brian above, by the way!! Even the smallest thing can help if enough people pitch in. Best to you.
You are right. There is always SOMETHING we can do to help. Even if it's just a little, together we can make a big difference.
Thank you for all of those wonderful examples we can follow.
