Escapade~~escape

Yep, I had a brief moment of freedom the other evening......all too brief!

Meowm came home and me and my brother were screaming for food, and before she could get us fed, the bad boy orange feral kitty was screaming for food, and he can scream! So Meowm decided to feed him before us! Yes, I know, how dare she!!!!!!!!!! Anyway, she gets the leftover stinky goodness that we didn't eat and she heads for the door. He's screaming, my brother and I are following her. He's right at the door, looking like he is going to make a bolt for inside the house the minute the door opens. So Meowm is in this struggle of setting the food outside for him, and keeping him outside, and keeping us inside. Well, you know how ungraceful humans can be. Meowm fumbled around, dropped the food outside, and gave me just enough space to slink out the door. I don't know what I was gonna do....I was hungry, but at the same time I was tired of that bad boy orange feral kitty spraying on my porch! Before I could decide if I was gonna eat that food, or start a battle, Meowm scooped me up and plopped me back in the house....and she scolded me alot! My brother almost escaped too, but she made it back in before he got out.

Man, did I get a talking too! Meowm told me how I could get in a fight and get bad diseases. She told me how I could get lost (right, as if!) and not have my warm cushy bed to sleep in at night. She told me that bad things could happen to me out there. Well, let me tell you, I was NOT happy! I wanted to be out there! At least for a little while. Then she said "I love you, I don't know what I would do if anything happened to you. Remember when you were kinda sick and you had to stay at the v-e-t overnight and Meowm was in tears? It would be worse than that!" Well, how could I stay mad about that? She loves me, so I can forgive her for dragging me back in the house. However, I am starting a campaign for a stroller or one of those cage type things that would allow us outside, but still keep us safe!

We have to agree with your Mom. You should have seen the Woman when Gemini was gone for 24 hours.

You poor things!! I have to say that going outside on nice days is the best thing in the world. I love to just lay on a bench and sniff the fresh air in our garden. I would keep at your Mom until she gets you a stroller or a cat run...at least!! You deserve the best and you deserve a bit of outside...unless it is Winter or raining, in which case, be happy you have a warm, dry house to be in!!! Purrs, Lautrec and Tiny

Well Meowm is right - you do need to be safe and there are lots of dangers.
Our cat, Mouschi, used to go out to the garden.
She was very old and never went away.
She used to like sitting up high on the fence teasing Harry, our last basset.
Perhaps your Meowm will think of an enclosure or something for you.
It would be nice to be out but you have to be safe.
love

Wow you are so brave to want to go outside! Did your mommy get a little leaky-eyed when she was giving you the talk? I think you guys should get a giant stroller so you can go around the neighborhood and take in all the smells!

Oh my goodness! What a scary adventure! You must have given your human SUCH a fright!! It is really important for you to stay safe so try not to scare her again! Although I do think a cat run might be a good idea. I don't know if you saw my post back in Jan about when I went to that BBQ at the home of those human pups and they had a Siamese cat who had her own cat door that led out into a big caged run just attached to the house. So she could sit outside and watch what everybody was doing in the garden (including me! I didn't dare go too close to the wire cage coz she kept giving me the evil eye and in the house, when I first arrived, she tried to flatten me!) - anyway, it seemed like a really good arrangement/compromise for the kitty to stay safe but still enjoy some outdoors sunshine and stimulation.

Of course, our Lemon was allowed outside but she hardly ever left our garden, which was very secluded at the back of the house and surrounded by a school's grounds. At the front of the house, our driveway was very long and very far up from our street - which in any case was a dead-end street so hardly any traffic came in except residents returning home. So it was really hard for her to even get out onto the street, even if she did leave our garden (which she never seemed to try - she would go to the edge of our driveway and then turn back, although she would sit there crying pitifully when we were going for our walks because she wanted to go with us) - so my humans thought it was very lucky as an ideal set-up for kitties to be safe outdoors.

But where we live now, the house is right on the street which is not a dead-end street so much mroe traffic and my humans are worried about a kitty being out in this situation (even though there are LOADS of cats on our street, like Marley Kitten) - so that is one reason why so far they have not got a new kitten yet. They don't feel we are living in the right kind of place to have a cat safely (and allow it outdoors).
