Meezer Monday
Guess what? Sammy the meezer came inside this weekend. We didn't see him because Meowm sutffed us in the litterbox room, but we could smell that he had been in. Meowm said she opened the door and he wandered in purrty quickly. She figured he would be more spooked and take more time. He went around and checked some stuff out, but about the time he was going to check out the space under the big bed, she had to shoo him back outside.
Meowm knows she can't afford to really bring him into the family. Well, she already feeds him, and is considering taking him to the v-e-t still for a few things before winter hits. But bringing him in on a permanent basis is still very questionable. Meowm still doesn't know if he will spray, or if Orion will pee on things. Plus 3 cats and one human in a 551 square foot apartment just isn't enough room for everyone. She is hoping to make a really nice winter home and that may end up having to be the winter home for Sammy.

We have the same thing here with Toby. Our mom managed to get him neutered in May, and he comes for breakfast every day, but where he goes after that is beyond us. He *would* come in the house...but she has us to consider and so understands your mom's dilemma. Our mom's going to make another winter shelter, see if Toby uses it this year. He didn't use the one she had out on the step last year...probably because the neighbour's cat was using it instead!
Good luck with him...Maybe someone will step forward and be able to offer him a home, if your mom lets rescue groups know she has him, or if she asks people she trusts. It's hard though. You just do what you are able to, our mom is coming to understand this. And what she can do isn't as much as what someone else might be able to do, and is more than what others might do.
So whatever your mom can do for him is more than he had a before, and a blessing to him.
I agree with Fuzzy Tails, there may be enough time to find him a really nice place.
Yup, that would be tight quarters with three of you...has your Mom tried a Siamese rescue group? Sometimes it's hard to make these decisions; our outdoor boy Henry has to stay an outdoor kitty, there's enough of us in the house, and he seems happy with his current lifestyle, i.e. food, shelter and a vet trip for the snip.
You do what you can. We saw a video on you tube fur an amazing outdoor cat house made out of a tote. 550 feet is a small area fur three cats. There might be peemail efurrywhere. Haf a pawsome day. xoxo
Wow, that's amazing that he came inside! It makes me mad that whoever originally had him did not take care of him. I'm glad you are looking out for him.
What a tough choice for everyone. I wish that someone would decide to adopt Sammy Meezer!
The three of us kitties live in a big house and consider ourselves very fortunate... but even we would have an issue with another cat! Your human probably knows much of this info, but quite a while back, I wrote a post that has some good links to creating winter shelters for outside kitties: http://www.sparklecat.com/special/winterizing-for-wild-kitties
There is room for you all if you kittypile at night. Just a thought...
Oh, we think it's amazing what your Meowm does already for all the feral kitties out there! Sammy is one lucky feline - even if he can't share your home on a permanent basis!
Am off to find that video you told me about!
Slobbers,
Honey the Great Dane
