Update on Junior

Meowm here:

Junior went to the vet today at 2. He hadn't thrown up again when I took him to the vet, but I don't know if he had eaten anything either. On the drive to the vet he meowed but wasn't his usual noisy self. His blood work is all good, as well as the urine analysis. He didn't have a fever, but has lost about 2 pounds since February. X-rays show the normal back up of poo...not enough~in the vets opinion~for him to be throwing up. He is dehydrated. He is very hissy/growly when you are near his belly and was NOT happy with the vet pressing on it. So he is staying over night, getting some fluids and something to coat his stomach. If he doesn't throw up anymore they will try some solid food tomorrow. The doctor thinks he may have irritable bowel syndrom. I DID NOT WANT TO LEAVE MY BOY THERE! Even knowing that all the tests came back with good results, and the doctor thinking it is IBS, I just didn't want to leave him...but I know he needs a bit of help. I cried telling him good night, and telling him to be good, and to eat tomorrow. I cried on my drive home, and have been fighting back tears since I have been home. I am glad Orion is here, but he isn't my Junior and I really want him back to his old self. So, I am going to ask for some amped up purrs for him please. I really want my boy to eat, poop if he needs to, and to come back home. Thank you.

Junior, we are purring and purraying lots and lots for your tummy to feel better. Please eat something and keep it down, ok? You'll feel lots better if you have a nice snack.

Love,
Tazo

PS - Junior's Mom - Momma sends lots of hugs to you. She knows how hard it is when a furbaby is sick, and especially when they have to stay overnight at the V-E-T. Last year, the V-E-T thought that EG might have IBS, too. It ended up being something else, but they told Momma that IBS is a very manageable condition. We are purring and purraying that it's something simple and that he'll heal up quick and get back to normal ASAP.

Oh, poor Meowm! Hugs (from Treater) and headbutts (from me) to you!

Poor Junior...having to spend the night at the V-E-T? Eeek! I did that in March and I did not like it one bit! (The V-E-T never did find out why I kept getting so dehydrated, but I seem to be fine right now.) Come home soon, Junior!!

Oh, by the way, Meowm, I wasn't completely alone for those 10 days - the apartment people do a great job of checking on me.

Junior, we are so sorry you have to stay at the vet. :( Your poor mom too. At least the vet thinks it's only IBS - that's very easy to treat with the right food and supplements (probiotics or pre- and pro-biotics). Sending healing purrs your way, Junior, and purrs and hugs for your mom.

Oh Junior's Meowmie! We're so sad Junior had to spend the night at the vet.
But you know what, me and Gree had the SAME purroblem! We had all the symptoms of IBS (but Mom didn'twanna do biopsies and put us thru that) so the presumptive diagnosis was IBS anyway. All by accident we found out it was something different. It came on slow, but it went away pretty fast even though we discovered it by accident, like a week or two. Me and Gree are sensitif to wheat and corn! Durin the big cat food recalls Mom put us all on by Nature's Organics, which has no wheat anything and no corn anything to avoid all the wheat and corn glutens that were contaminated. (Plus it's made in the US) And we got better!!! Since then we are OK except if we get a treat or something that has wheat or corn a few times because Mom furgets to check. So you might wanna try that -- no wheats or corns foods. by Nature and by Nature Organics, and have no wheat or corn, and they're available now at Petsmart. Plus some Eagle Pack dry and wet foods are wheat and corn free too, but we can only get them at the local pet specialty shop. They're good healthy foods, so they can't hurt anyways.
We hope Junior feels all better soon. We will send him lotsa purrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrs!

Our boy Bow has IBS since 1994, and has been on prednisolone since then. He does very well on it and is now 18, so it is possible to live a very normal life. So if Junior has IBS, it is manageable!
